high quality flue-cured Virginia is now making investments
geared toward increasing its share in the international market.
Encouraged by an ever-increasing demand for Brazilian export
leaf, the three southern states in Brazil expand planted
area and hope to harvest 830 thousand tons in the 2003/2004
crop, 38,33 percent up from the previous year. In terms of
genetic enhancement and new technologies, the country has
become a reference worldwide.
