Fruit
There is every indication that this is a special year for
Brazil-ian fruits. By the end of 2003, the main exporting
chains of this agribusiness are expected to have most of their
orchards adjusted to the Integrated Fruit Production Program
(PIF). This requires compliance with the system’s management
practices and environmental standards which, in fact, stirs
up a deeply rooted conventional fruit growing culture, and
promises to be the only way to keep competitiveness high in
the international marketplace, especially in the European
Community.
